History is filled with watchmen. People who refuse rest, food, peace and comfort so others can enjoy all those things. In ancient times watchmen stood on the walls of the city, watching, ready to call out should something threaten. They were awake so the city could sleep. They paid so others could play.
Soldiers are watchmen. So are firefighters, police, and countless others. They pay so that others can play.
[I think contributors are a type of watchmen. While people around them are squandering resources, taking them for granted, they are denying themselves so they can help in times of need.]
Last Tuesday I felt pressed to become more of a watchman for my post at Crown. And so this morning it began…I came in earlier, gave up sleep, and began to pour out myself in prayer for the things God has for us as an organization. I have no idea where this is going to lead, just that I am asked to carry more weight in prayer.
And if God calls, I’m always in.
Every so often I meet people I want to highlight for prayer. Kypyl and Aymee are just such a couple. Attending the Leading Stewards Course in Bulgaria, I discovered that they owned a mortuary company.
Aymee cornered me at one point during the two-day course and asked me for counsel for their business. They are committed to being honest and trustworthy in their business dealings, however their competitors are gaining an edge because of their willingness to cheat.
This couple is a typical example of how hard it is for honest people to make it in business in much of the world. While I couldn’t give any specific advice, my heart went out to these people. Will you join me in praying for them? Pray that they keep their commitments to continue to operate their business honestly, and pray for incredible wisdom-for new strategies and creativity-to help them succeed.

Some secondary publisher translated it into Bulgarian in the late 1990’s. With it began his journey toward financial freedom. When he discovered that Crown was officially coming to his nation, he made sure to attend the catalytic event as well as this Leading Stewards Course.
He is just one example of how God is preparing people ahead of time to champion the cause of stewardship. Join me in praying for Bisser as he works through the course over the next ten weeks. Pray that he is able to make an impact in his nation as he seeks to teach others.

So it turns out I hate being sick on the road. There’s no mom with chicken noodle soup with crackers, no familiar bed to sleep on, and no easy way to pick up the meds you need.
It’s a good thing i’m desperately passionate about what I get paid to do everyday…
Tomorrow at 1pm our time (7am EDT) we kick off our Leading Stewards Course. Your prayers for the success of the Course (and my health) are appreciated more than you know.
